2022...What do you have in store for us?
Make it a good year
John Wayne once said this:
“Tomorrow is the most important thing in life. Comes into us at midnight very clean. It’s perfect when it arrives and it puts itself in our hands. It hopes we’ve learned something from yesterday.” – John Wayne
I often think the same thing can be said for a new year. A new year comes in as a gift…all sparkly and clean. Clear of yesterday’s mistakes, traumas…a clean slate to begin again. It’s of lessons learned and time revoked. Things of the past are allowed to fade away into something new once again.
We’ve been roughing it, by our standards, the last two years as a whole. I say by our standards because generations past would argue the point. And, I think they would win. Yes, it’s been incredibly hard but then again, we have grown incredibly soft with our electricity on demand, food readily available, etc.
However, I went to the store yesterday and stopped short in the produce section where over half the space was empty, no eggs, no dairy. The meat market was so picked over, I ended up grabbing a few cans of tuna and left before a fight broke out. And that was just on my little island. I can imagine, and have, what it’s like when people begin to get nervous about not being able to feed their children.
It got me thinking about what 2022 has in store for us all. I’m hopeful. More hopeful than last year. But…what I think I see, isn’t pretty either, at least in the beginning. But there is that light at the end of the tunnel.
Thought the road is full of ruts and winding curves. But we’ll make it through, if only we decide to step in and fight for it.
If we don’t, we have only ourselves to blame.
Make it a good year…
